Fehmarnbelt conditional contracts signed

GERMANY/DENMARK - Conditional contracts have now been signed with the consortia chosen to construct the Fehmarnbelt fixed link. Following the previous announcement, pen has been put to paper. A slight delay caused the contracts to be signed at the end of May rather than mid-May, and this was due to a complaint being received.

First trains through delft

The construction of a four-track railway tunnel in Delft in the Netherlands has reached an important milestone. From March 2015, trains have been running on two tracks through the tunnel and station. The 2.3km-long tunnel runs through the historical city center and replaces a fly-over, which caused major nuisance due to noise and vibrations. DENMARK/GERMANY – The preferred bidders for the Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link have been named. Client Femern said it had chosen a joint venture consisting of Vinci Construction Grands Projets, Per Aarsleff, Wayss & Freytag, Max Bögl, CFE, Bachy Solétance, BAM Infra, BAM International, Dredging International, and Cowi.

NETHERLANDS - Infrastructure manager ProRail has run its first test train through a new four-track railway tunnel beneath the city of Delft in the Netherlands. The train ran through the 2.3km tunnel beneath the city at the beginning of this month, ahead of its planned opening for passenger services in spring next year.
