MTR Corporation Limited in Hong Kong has awarded a EUR 280M (USD 362M) contract for the Hin Keng to Diamond Hill tunnels, which are part of the new Shatin to Central Link (SCL) mass transit railway. VINCI Construction Grands Projets has won the contract, the companyannounced yesterday.

Construction on Ohio sewage tunnel begins

Work on the new sewage conveyance tunnel in Lorain, Ohio, has started, local media recently reported. The tunnel will be more than one mile (1.6km) long and sit more than 100ft (30.48m) underground between Broadway and the Black River.

Toronto tunnelling project awarded

Metrolinx has awarded the the first of two tunnelling contracts for the Eglinton-Scarborough Crosstown tunnel, which involves tunnelling beneath Eglinton Avenue from the west launch shaft area at Black Creek Drive to Yonge-Eglinton station. The contract, worth CAD 320M (USD328), was announced yesterday.
