Final breakthrough of Swedish tunnel achieved

SWEDEN - The final breakthrough of tunnelling work at the Hallandsås Tunnel, Sweden, has been achieved. The project used a Herrenknecht TBM to cut through the last meters of rock to the target shaft after eight years of tunnelling.

Shortlist announced for London Underground link at Paddington

Three shortlisted contractors bidding for the contract to design and build the tunnel link between Crossrail platforms and Bakerloo line platforms at Paddington Station were announced late last month by Transport for London (TfL). The companies shortlisted are Costain Skanska JV, Dragados S.A and Morgan Sindall BeMo Tunnelling JV.
