Madeira is currently the scene of extensive road tunnelling. To cope with difficult ground and the propensity for water ingress, extensive shotcreting is necessary as part of the support operation. Jeannine Bumbach from the Aliva Division of Silka Equipment in Switzerland describes the tunnelling and the shotcreting equipment being used.
