Canada’s project of the year

As tunnels went to press the Tunnelling Association of Canada's annual awards were in full swing. The award for best Canadian tunnelling project for 2013 went to a project that had to endure some of the toughest ground conditions, consistently varying, and continually testing the skills and knowledge of the teams involved.

Strabag subsidiary Ed Züblin has been awarded as lead JV member a EUR 250M (USD 334M) contract by Deutsche Bahn to build the 5.9km Albabstieg Tunnel along the new Wendlingen–Ulm rail line in Germany.

Strabag's CEO resigns

Dr Hans Peter Haselsteiner, the CEO of Strabag, has resigned from the company at a meeting with the supervisory board earlier this week. Haselsteiner's resignation is effective with the end of of the 2013 Annual General Meeting on 14 June this year.
