As a result of some recent high-profile incidents within the industry, insurers have been increasingly concerned that tunnelling was becoming uninsurable in the market. A joint working party, between the British Tunnelling Society (BTS) and the Association of British Insurers (ABI), has since produced a draft Code of Practice that would allow insurers to continue to offer cover. Monitoring restoration on Bucharest's Metro

The construction works for Bucharest Metro's 8.4km long Line 4 extension started in 1989, but due to lack of investment funds, were stopped again in 1996. This lead to the dewatering system being shut off on the eastern (Line 1) extension, flooding a 4.7km long section of tunnels and stations.
