Federal funds dedicated to Sydney freeway tunnel

The Australian federal government has budgeted AUD 200M (USD 203M) for New South Wales to help plan major road infrastructure projects, including a freeway tunnel.

The proposed tunnel would link the F3 (Sydney-Newcastle Freeway) with the M2 motorway in northwestern Sydney.

Local newspapers report another AUD 25M could be made available, with matching funds from the state, to start an investment company, controlled by the state government, to attract private financing for major infrastructure projects.
