16 April 2024

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded a contract for construction of the Al Khaleej Street Tunnel Project.

The 1.65km-long, six-lane tunnel will have the capacity to carry up to 12,000 vehicles per hour in both directions. It will extend from the end of the ramp of the recently-built Infinity Bridge in Deira to the intersection of Al Khaleej and Cairo Streets.

The tunnel is part of Phase 4 of the RTA’s Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project which extends for 13km along Sheikh Rashid Road, Al Mina Street, Al Khaleej Street, and Cairo Street.

The project is being overseen by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai.

T&TI has contacted the RTA for more information on the company awarded the contract.
