CBE to celebrate 30 years

France - Segment mould manufacturer CBE will celebrate its 30th anniversary on 13 March 2017. In this time the company has supplied 170 carousels, manufactured 22,500 segment moulds, amassed a workforce of 230 and supported 480 projects in 51 countries.

A spokesperson gave this history of the company: “CBE Group was created in 1987, a company specialised in the engineering and the manufacturing of steel moulds, precast factories and maintenance equipment to manufacture concrete segments for all sorts of tunnels. CBE Group earned its fame with its first project during the same year, the Channel Tunnel, connecting France to the UK.

“CBE Group […] became international quite quickly and took part in the building of several tunnels on every continent, such as the subways of Lisbon, Budapest, Moscow, Cairo, Sydney... Its ability to fulfill its clients’ needs and to produce tailor-made solutions allowed the company to become the leader in its sector of activity.

“In 2009, CBE Group opened a plant in Yangling, China, in order to conquer the Asian market. In 2010, the company bought ACIMEX, expert in the lifting of heavy loads using the vacuum technology, allowing CBE Group to extend its offer. In 2013, CBE Group also created APS (Advanced Precast Systems), to diversify its offer in term of concrete precast moulds.

“Today, CBE Group is active worldwide. Its most recent projects include FOLLO LINE in Norway (19- km road tunnel connecting the cities of Oslo and Ski), QUITO in Ecuador (Subway tunnel for the city), SHANGHAI in China (Subway tunnel for the city) or CALAIS in France (renovation of the port of Calais) for APS.”

As part of celebrations, employees will run a 45km relay from the production site at L’Ile Bouchard to the company headquarters in Saint-Avertin. The race will be followed by a meal and talk by CEO Didier Lefebvre. An event is also planned at the Aftes event in Paris this November.
