Tunnelling by degrees

The University of Technology of Turin is offering a post graduate masters course in "Tunnelling and Tunnel Boring Machines" to run from November this year until October 2006.

A similar course run in 2003-2004 was well received and the International Tunnelling Association (ITA) has officially endorsed this new programme with over 50 lecturers from across the industry already confirmed. Given in English, the course is broken into three modules: Tunnel design and construction methods; Mechanised tunnelling; Management and safety of job sites.

The syllabus will entail 450 hours of lessons and classroom exercises with written exams at the end of each module, together with two months work experience on a tunnel construction site or working for a tunnel design company, plus a thesis.
