Oden Anläggningsentreprenad AB, the fully-owned Swedish subsidiary of Austrian contracting giant Strabag construction group, has been commissioned to build three new infrastructure projects in Sweden and Finland.

Lansimetro Oy awarded Oden the contract to build a 1.8km track tunnel with intermediate stations for the metro phase one, LU1 Matinkyla in Helsinki, Finland. The works will start in August 2011 and are expected to be completed in November 2013. The contract value is approximately EUR 28M (USD 40M).

“Taking part in the metro expansion westwards in Helsinki is a great start in the promising Finnish heavy infrastructure market for us”, says Patrick Marelius, director and member of the board within Oden.

Oden, which specialises in the construction of tunnels, bridges and other transportation infrastructure, was assigned to build a part of Sweden’s largest new city district, Norra Djurgardsstaden in Stockholm. After starting phase one of the project, Oden was also awarded by the City of Stockholm to undertake the works for phase two as well. The assignment includes piling, pile concrete decks, water and sewage tunnels and roads.

The works started in June 2011 and are expected to be finished by October 2012. The contract value is approximately EUR 22M (USD 31M).

Finally, ODEN has been commissioned by Trafikverket (The Swedish Transport Administration) to build the section Edet Rasta and Torpa of the motorway E45, a part of the way between Göteborg and Trollhättan, which connects the North to the South of Sweden. The project consists of extending more than five kilometres of existing two lane road into four lanes with median separation and two fauna passages (passages under the motorway, mainly for wildlife). The contract value amounts to EUR 26M (USD 37M). Construction is planned to take part

between August 2011 and July 2013.
