Second breakthrough in Rome

6 July 2010

The second breakthrough on Rome’s Metro B1 occurred at Annibaliano Station on 25 June. Seli’s 6.77m diameter EPB TBM S-33 entered the station 11 days behind schedule due to maintenance work and other set-up modifications to the tunnel conveyors.

As of April 2010, the TBM had advanced about 841m (601 rings), with an average daily advance rate of 13.6m per day.

Seli personnel are now advancing the TBM along the station. Cutterhead maintenance and repair will be performed before boring is started on the last section of tunnel between the Annibaliano and Bologna stations.
