Milan breakthrough

On Friday 10 September, a 6.54m diameter Lovat TBM broke through to a reception shaft in the Italian city of Milan after completing 1,036m of tunnelling for a metro system extension.

The contractor, Torno Internazionale SpA used a refurbished Lovat RME257SE Series 17900 machine for the contract, which is now half completed.
