Hong Kong win for Gammon Skanska

22 April 2003

Gammon Skanska has beaten two rival contractors to win a US$192M Highways Department contract to build the 1.2km long Nam Wan tunnel on Hong Kong's planned Route 9 expressway.

The firm won the deal after beating bids by French contractor, Dragages et Travaux Publics, and a joint venture between Australia's Leighton Contractors (Asia) and Kumagai Gumi of Japan.

The Highways Department considered Gammon Skanska submitted the best package based on an analysis of its price and technical submission using tunnel and road designs by design consultant Ove Arup and Partners (Hong Kong).
