EarthCam provides updates on Tonnelle Avenue Project

The Gateway Development Commission (GDC) has installed an EarthCam on the Tonnelle Avenue Bridge and Utility Relocation Project to provide live images for the public.

The works are a major early work component of the Hudson Tunnel Project involving the relocation of utilities and the construction of a new roadway bridge for Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen, New Jersey.

GDC has installed the panoramic camera as part of its commitment to public engagement. The feed can be accessed on the GDC website, providing daily updates of construction progress. GDC will also release time lapse footage during construction.

In a joint statement, GDC commissioners said the EarthCam was an important part of meeting the organisation’s responsibilities to the public.

“We are excited to offer this window into our work and look forward to continued collaboration with all stakeholders as we advance the vital Hudson Tunnel Project,” they said.

The Tonnelle Avenue Bridge and Utility Relocation Project will allow for a connection to the new Hudson tunnel portal at the western slope of the New Jersey Palisades, provide construction access between the staging sites on either side of Tonnelle Avenue, and enable access to the entry point for the TBMs that will dig the Palisades Tunnel portion of the project.

Work launched on the Tonnelle Avenue Project in November last year, marking the start of construction on the Hudson Tunnel Project in New Jersey. This section of work is expected to be completed by autumn next year.
