Both TBMs boring the Line Five tunnel of the Milan Metro have successfully broken through at Cenisio station, SELI announced earlier this month. TBM S-388 broke through at Cenisio station in January while TBM S-238 broke through at Cenisio station last month.

Seli stated that TBM S-388 is currently at 1,118.04m, which is 51 per cent of its drive. TBM S-238 is currently at 756.38m, or 34 per cent of the tunnel.

Excavation began in August 2012 and is scheduled for completion in May next year.
