CTRL hosts health, safety and environment conference

6 September 2004

There are still some exhibitor and delegate spaces available at this year's European Construction Institute's annual Safety, Health and Environment Conference due to be held in London on 23 September.

The conference is hosted by the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL) project and will focus on occupational health. A press release said: "Health is moving out of safety's shadow to the forefront in construction, becoming a prime focus for design and management."

With the number of hand-worked cross passages in soft ground on the CTRL London tunnels section, it will be interesting to see if CTRL will divulge any of the measures it took to limit Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS). The presentations and exhibits during the conference are intended to "equip health and safety professionals with essential resources for improving the construction industry's health and safety performance".
