AECOM announced yesterday that it was awarded the USD 25M contract from the City of Indianapolis to provide construction management services for the USD 280M Deep Rock Tunnel Connection (DRTC) and dewatering pump station in Indianapolis.

The DRTC will provide a portion of the CSO storage, collect major sewer overflows and provide future connections to other tunnels. The main tunnel consists of approximately 41,600ft (12,680m) of an 18ft (5.5m) diameter tunnel at a depth of 230ft (70m).

This contract is the initial phase of the city's Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Long-Term Control Plan, owned by Citizens Energy Group, an Indianapolis-based utility company, which bought wastewater utility assets in August

"Aecom is always eager to be involved with initiatives that create, enhance and sustain our built, natural and social environments," said John M. Dionisio, Aecom president and chief executive officer. "This project will help solve some key environmental challenges for Indianapolis."

The project is slated for completion during 2017.
