British Tunnelling Society Annual Dinner 2011

11 May 2011

As the collective hangover of the T&T editorial team begins to vanish, and we delicately peel business cards out of eyelids and discover receipts in pockets we didn’t know we had, the memory of the 2011 BTS Annual Dinner returns.

The British ‘tunnelling elite’ as Sandi Toksvig – the comedian, writer and broadcaster chosen as the after dinner speaker – put it, gathered last Friday for the traditional dinner at the Brewery on Chiswell Street in London.

Speaking after the meal, society chairman Bob Ibell praised the past work of the BTS given its 40th anniversary this year, and looked to the future, making a special mention of the recently founded BTS Young Members and the unprecedented opportunity for continuous tunnelling work in the UK.

T&T covered the formation of the BTS in 1971 and has been the official magazine of the British Tunnelling Society and tunnellers worldwide ever since.

As always the T&T editorial team was there in force and would again like to thank our friends in the industry for helping us prop up the bar.
