Bookings open for BTS health and safety course

The two-day course will take place at the Institution of Civil Engineers in London from November 20-21.

The course aims to provide a broad ranging introduction to the health and safety risks associated with the underground environment.

It will provide an introduction or enhance existing basic knowledge and develop an awareness of the particular health and safety challenges of working underground.

It will cover topics such as ground risks and mitigation; health and welfare for underground workers; occupational health programmes; emergency response; compressed air use; underground safety passports; safety management and maintenance of underground machinery; electrical safety; use of explosives underground; and environmental impacts.

The course is £205 for BTS members and £240 for non-members.
