AlpTransit gets cash request

The AlpTransit Gotthard Company (ATG), responsible for building the alpine traversal rail tunnels at Gotthard, has received a request for a supplementary payment of CHF82M (US$71.6M) from contractor consortium, TAT, for the Bodio section of the works.

ATG announced in late October that the TAT consortium had submitted a request to cover unexpected ground conditions on Bodio – Faido section of the Gotthard Base Tunnel. TAT's request for an additional represents 5.5% of the original CHF1.48bn (US$1.29bn) contract value that was awarded to the consortium.
