10km cable tunnels in UK call for competition

In the UK, the National Grid Company has issued a call for competition for the 10km Beddington-Rowdown cable tunnels. The deadline for receipt of expressions of interest is 7 September 2004, with the tender scheduled to start on 1 October 2004.

The outline scope is to design, manufacture, test, install and commission a high voltage cable facility between two 400kV substations along a route that includes approximately 10km of tunnelling.
