PROJECT ENGINEER (TUNNELS)

We are seeking a Project Engineer (Tunnels) to support our program/project management team on the delivery of transit expansion projects in the City of Toronto.

The successful candidate will be part of an integrated team, located in the client's office.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Engineering (civil/structural) degree from and accredited university.
• 10+ years experience in a multi-discipline engineering environment for large capital projects, preferably transit related (light rail).
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario is required. PMP certification is a definite asset.
• Strong knowledge of current engineering principles and practices, specifically in tunnelling, heavy civil or structural, complex transit related projects, complemented with a good knowledge of project management concepts and practices.
• Strong knowledge of construction techniques and practices is also required, including contract administration.
• Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
• You have solid engineering design skills; demonstrated organizational, investigative, analytical, and problem solving abilities; and strong PC skills.
• Effective interpersonal, communication (verbal and report writing) skills are combined with the demonstrated ability to coordinate the efforts of others to accomplish objectives.
• Experience in underground infrastructure construction (primarily tunnelling) in an urban environment is a definite asset.

Reporting to the Project Manager – Bored Tunnels, you will provide project support to the Senior Project Engineers and the Project Manager, performing various engineering and project management activities related to tunnelling You will be assigned to various projects and/or project elements leading to multiple design and/or construction contracts. Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

• Providing assistance in the development of project design and its execution through the preliminary and detailed design phases;
• Participating in the preparation of construction contract documents, and also in associated activities such as contract award, procurement, etc.;
• Providing engineering support during construction; obtaining information and data from, as well as providing same to, and interface with, project teams, personnel in other departments in the client’s office. and other stakeholders as directed; performing related administrative duties as assigned to meet project requirements and commitments; and performing related duties as assigned.
