Mott MacDonald gets Kolkata Metro position

13 July 2010

The Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation (KMR) last month appointed Mott MacDonald detailed design consultant for six elevated stations on the planned East-West Corridor of Kolkata Metro. The stations are all in Salt Lake City, which currently can only be accessed by road and air, despite the town having a thriving IT sector as well as being the home to India’s largest sports stadium.

The capital value of the project is INR 1400M (USD 29.9M).

“We are delighted that Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation Limited has selected us for this prestigious project. Mott MacDonald is involved in metro projects around the world including the development of Delhi Metro and it is fantastic news that we will be creating designs for landmark stations for the thriving Salt Lake City region,” said Mott MacDonald’s project director Gaurav Srivastava.

Srivastava added that the stations are due for completion in 2013.
