Eiffage subsidiary Eiffage GĂ©nie Civil, in a consortium with eight architectural firms, has secured a contract to design and build a section of Line 15 East of the Grand Paris Express.

The €2.54bn (£2.19bn) contract, awarded by Société du Grand Paris, covers the section between Bobigny–Pablo Picasso and Champigny Centre stations.

The works include the excavation of 17km of tunnel, the construction of 15 rail structures and two entrance structures, laying railway tracks, path facilities as well as high and low-voltage systems and electromechanical equipment (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, smoke extraction and fire safety) in the stations, tunnel and related rail structures.

The consortium, which includes Architecturestudio, Ar.thème Associés, fbcc, BIG-Silvio D’ASCIA Architecture consortium, LA/BA, VIGUIER, and Wilmotte & Associés, will also be responsible for constructing six new stations: Bobigny–Pablo Picasso; Pont de Bondy; Bondy; Rosny Bois-Perrier; Val de Fontenay; and Nogent–Le Perreux.

It will lead development works of the part of Champigny Centre station dedicated to Line 15 East, as well as the construction of an operations centre in Rosny-sous-Bois and two property development projects in Bondy and Le Perreux.

Eiffage says the consortium is committed to reducing the operation’s carbon footprint, especially by using low-carbon concrete and the installation of fibre-reinforced concrete segments. Also, the landscaping of 15ha of green space has been proposed over the entire project.

Eiffage and its partners have also made social commitments, with 1,272,000 working hours allocated to social employment and 25% of revenue earmarked for small to medium-sized companies.

Fifteen months has been allocated for the design phase, and the completed works will be handed over in 2031 for commissioning.

Eiffage has won 35 contracts for the construction of Grand Paris Express. The company is currently completing works on lot 1 of Line 16 and in 2022 delivered the civil engineering for Line 14 South.
