Contract awards for Malaysian hydropower project

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has awarded contracts for the construction of the Hulu Terengganu hydropower project.

The contracts valued at around MYR 1bn (USD 319.03M) were awarded to a joint venture of Loh and Loh Construction and Sinohydro Corporation.

The project calls for the creation of a water transfer tunnel as well as two dams, two hydro turbines and generators in an underground power station.

Detailed engineering design for main civils works and the engineering design review for electrical and mechancical works, management and supervision will be carried out by the consortium of Alstom Projects India and Alstom Hydro Malaysia in separate contracts worth MYR 114M (USD 36.37M) and MYR 127.6M (USD 40.71).

The plant will be completed by October 2015.
