BTS Tunnel Design and Construction Course one month away

22 May 2014

The BTS Tunnel Design and Construction Course 2014 launches on 30 June. Aimed at young consulting engineers early in their careers, as well in part at client representatives and interested insurance/financial parties, the annual event will this year be held at Warwick University over five days.

Each day has a particular focus: project development, soft ground tunnelling, sprayed concrete lining, soft ground tunnelling (part two), and hard ground tunnelling. Upon completion, the BTS said delegates will understand current best practice in all aspects of tunnel construction from planning through to construction; be informed on risk, technical solutions for differing ground conditions, and the health and safety aspects of tunnelling projects; have networked with other delegates and had the opportunity to discuss technical matters with many of Europe's leading tunnelling practitioners; receive copies of the latest relevant BTS publications. Delegates will also receive a CPD certificate for the course.

A BTS spokesman added, "The course speakers are all recognised industry experts in their own fields, and the BTS Tunnel Design and Construction Course is recognised within the industry as providing the highest standard of technical content, with the course material being presented in a format designed to engage and inform attendees from a wide range of backgrounds."
