Argentina – The second of two new 4.66m diameter Terratec EPBMs has been delivered for a 13.5km potable water tunnel system, in Buenos Aires. Factory acceptance for the TBM, which was manufactured for the Río Subterráneo a Lomas tunnel, took place in July.

HNTB appoints Murali Hariharan senior tunnel engineer

California – Murali Hariharan has been appointed senior tunnel engineer for the national tunnel practice of HNTB Corporation; the company announced July 30. He continues working on the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor Project in Los Angeles as lead engineer for construction support services and has undertaken geotechnical tasks on XpressWest High Speed Rail project from Victorville, California, to Las Vegas, Nevada, being provided at an accelerated schedule. He is based in HNTB’s downtown Los Angeles office.

Ontario releases water asset report

Ontario – The Centre for Advancement of Trenchless Technologies (CATT) with support from the Southern Ontario Water Consortium (SOWC), has developed a web-based survey to understand the implementation of asset management processes and practices in Ontario municipal water utilities. Results of the 2018 survey have been released in Water and Wastewater Asset Management Readiness Assessment report, CATT announced May 28.

Early breakthrough on Bheri Babai

Nepal – Crews holed through on the Bheri Babai Multipurpose Diversion Project in April 2019, one year ahead of schedule. The project, which was undertaken for the Government of Nepal’s Department of Irrigation, will supply local farmers with water throughout the dry season, as well as hydroelectricity.
