Breakthrough on Ottawa LRT

CANADA - The roadheader mining in the central shaft from the east segment to the west segment punched through on November 7, according to the City of Ottawa. At the time of the breakthrough, 48 per cent of Lyon Station cavern excavation has completed.

Garrod inducted to Canadian Academy of Engineering

CANADA - On June 26, the Canadian Academy of Engineering announced that Brian Garrod, deputy practice Leader for tunnels at Hatch Mott MacDonald (HMM) has been inducted as one of 49 new Fellows of the Academy. Founded in 1987, the Academy is the national institution through which Canada’s most distinguished and experienced engineers provide strategic advice on matters of critical importance to Canada.

Mott MacDonald appointed on major upgrade of Auckland CRL

Mott MacDonald, as part of an integrated team, has been appointed to undertake the reference design for the NZD 2.86bn (USD 2.43bn) upgrade of the City Rail Link (CRL) in Auckland, New Zealand. Mott MacDonald is developing the project on behalf of Auckland Transport, while team members also include Aurecon, Jasmax and Grimshaw.
