Chelsea to Battersea tunnel surface settlements

Monitoring of ground surface movements induced by the construction of the Chelsea to Battersea Pipeline Tunnel project is presented as part of this case study. The surface settlements induced by the shaft construction have been analysed and compared with current methodologies and information from recent projects. Movements from excavation and construction of the tunnel are also analysed, and back-analysis of volume losses is presented. Chelsea-Battersea tunnel nears completion

Great Britain – Work on a new tunnel under the River Thames project in Battersea Park is nearing completion. Costing GBP 18M (22.9M USD), the 330m-long tunnel will transport gas under the Thames between Chelsea and Battersea in West London. Owned by gas distribution company Cadent, the tunnel forms part of a GBP 1bn programme to replace ageing infrastructure in the UK’s capital.

North Sitra Sewage Scheme microtunnel breakthrough

Bahrain - Joseph Gallagher successfully installed its first microtunnel of 2018 in Bahrain. The project was to install a short drive, some 35m, of 600mm steel pipe underneath a road to form part of a new sewer network, the North Sitra Sewage Scheme.
