Yongnam’s contract hat trick

27 October 2011

Yongnam Holdings was awarded contracts to supply temporary steel strutting, sheetpile and decking works for the Kaki Bukit and Kallang Bahru stations on Downtown Line Three (DTL3) in Singapore. The local steel and civil contractor was awarded three contracts worth a total SGD 30.4M (USD 24M). Contracts 929 and 932A were awarded for Kaki Bukit Station and Kallang Bahru Station respectively, while a third contract covered basement works on the Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall.

The main contractor on the DTL works packages is China State Construction Engineering Corporation. The Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall main contractor is Sato Kogyo.

Seow Soon Yong, CEO of Yongnam said, “We are very pleased to be awarded these two DTL3 contracts. Yongnam is honoured to be involved in Singapore’s major public transport infrastructure projects such as the DTL3. This is an endorsement of Yongnam’s proven engineering and technical expertise in managing challenging projects. For these two contracts, the main challenges involve the deep basement excavation works which will require between five to six layers of steel strutting.”

Work should conclude in late 2014.
