HRBT team to build Virginia extension
US – Virginia governor Ralph Northam announced February 15 that the Commonwealth of Virginia has selected Hampton Roads Connector Partners, a design-build team, to deliver the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel (HRBT) Expansion Project. The fixed price (USD 3.3bn) and fixed completion date (November 1, 2025) contract is expected to be executed in April.

He is based in Bellevue, Washington, and oversees all tunnelling work on the Sound Transit West Seattle and Ballard Link Extension Project. He also serves as an accomplished resource to the firm’s clients and projects across the nation, the company said, adding in his previous capacity, Wongkaew served as chief tunnel engineer for research and development of an innovative underground transportation system.

Canada – Aecon Group announced November 1 that a joint venture between Aecon (40 per cent) and Traylor Bros Inc. (60 per cent) has been awarded a CAD 267M (USD 203M) contract by Metro Vancouver (Greater Vancouver Water District) for the Second Narrows Water Supply Tunnel project in British Columbia.
