AMT-II TBM ordered

India – Patel Engineering has ordered a Terratec TBM for the AMT-II water transfer project in Maharashtra, western India. The project calls for a 3.2m hard rock gripper TBM to complete the two drives that form the 5.5km transfer tunnel.

Breakthrough on Mumbai Metro Line 3
Thursday, August 29, 2019 India – A TBM has broken through on the UGC-02 contract of Mumbai Metro Line 3. The breakthrough completes the first section of running tunnel for the project. The section is the 3.82km southbound running tunnel between the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminal (CST) and Mumbai Central stations.

Terratec wins contracts for Pune Metro
Thursday, May 02, 2019 India - Terratec has secured two contracts for Pune metro rail in Maharashtra, India. A number of 6.61m diameter EPB TBMs (EPBMs) will be delivered to the 16.56km-long Line 1 of the new metro. The precise number of machines is still being finalised by the contractor and client, according to Terratec.
TBM launched for the Bangkok Orange Line
Friday, April 12, 2019 Thailand – A 6.39m diameter Terratec EPB machine was launched last January for the first 23km-long (east) phase of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand’s (MRTA) Orange Line Project.
Twin tunnels supplement Singapore canal
Monday, November 05, 2018 Singapore – Herrenknecht recently released a report on the successful completion of a drainage tunnel in Singapore. The project, which broke through in December 2017, required the construction of 1,000m-long twin tunnels with an excavated diameter of 5,250mm and a minimum distance between the tubes of 2.46m.

Jilin breakthrough
Tuesday, July 03, 2018 China – The TBM mining the tunnel for the Jilin Yinsong Water Supply Project Lot 3 broke through in mid-May. The 24.3km tunnel forms a key part of the 736km scheme to divert water from a reservoir in the upper Di’er Songhua River to the drier regions of central Jilin Province in northeast China.

Monday, June 11, 2018 Singapore – The Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced in June that it had completed the SI work for two alignment options for its proposed 50km-long Cross Island Line (CRL). The field work took place in a nature reserve between May 2016 and September 2017.

TBM passes halfway point at Jilin
Friday, March 02, 2018 China - The TBM boring lot three of the Jilin Yinsong Water Supply Project has excavated more than 50% of the tunnel. The tunnel will be 24.3km long when complete and contractor Beijing Vibroflotation Engineering had excavated 14 km of the tunnel as of January 2018.
North Sitra Sewage Scheme microtunnel breakthrough
Thursday, February 08, 2018 Bahrain - Joseph Gallagher successfully installed its first microtunnel of 2018 in Bahrain. The project was to install a short drive, some 35m, of 600mm steel pipe underneath a road to form part of a new sewer network, the North Sitra Sewage Scheme.

Tight Bangkok cable tunnel breakthrough
Monday, December 18, 2017 Thailand - On 22 September the first drive for the Phra Khanong Cable Tunnel Project broke through. The project, carried out by contractor Nawarat Patanakarn called for a 32m-radius curve as the TBM exited the launch shaft to avoid some existing piles. The TBM used was a 3.2m Terratec EPBM, which is now excavating the second drive.

Tuesday, December 12, 2017 China - Guangxi Liugong Machinery Co., Ltd announced on November 30 an RMB 546M (USD 85.24M) acquisition of 51 per cent shares in Shanghai Jintai Engineering Machinery Co., Ltd., which was formerly held by Guangxi Liugong Group Corp.
CCCI to buy Canadian contractor
Thursday, November 23, 2017 China/Canada - Aecon has announced that it will be bought by CCC International. The agreement will see the Chinese company purchase all issued and outstanding Aecon shares for a total value of CAD 1.51bn (USD 1.2bn).
TBM Completes third bore for Chennai metro project
Wednesday, November 15, 2017 India - On October 31 a 6.65m diameter Robbins EPBM broke through at Chennai Metro, making this the third tunnel the machine has bored for the project and for contractor Afcons Infrastructure Ltd.
