Lowari tunnel widening nearly halfway complete
18 June 2014Work on the Lowari Tunnel Project on Nowshera-Dir-Chitral Road (N-45) is ongoing and so far over 45 per cent of work on tunnel widening has been completed, while over 40 per cent of total civil works required have been completed.
An official of the Ministry of Communications told the official Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) news agency in Islamabad on 13 June that overall progress of the tunnel project is about 33 per cent.
An earlier APP story quoted local officials as saying that the project would be completed by October 2017.
Lowari Tunnel is an 8.75km long under-construction road tunnel having a 7.1m diameter and situated in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan connecting Dir and Chitral Valley.
