ISTSS 2023 early bird registration closes soon

24 February 2023

Early bird registration for the 10th International Symposium on Tunnel Safety and Security (ISTSS) closes on February 28.

ISTSS 2023, to be held in Stavanger, Norway from April 26-28, is offering early bird prices for participants and speakers attending all three days, or a one-day pass.

There are also discounts for groups of five or more from one company, and an early bird offer for a whole week pass for ISTSS and the fires in vehicles conference, FIVE, which runs from April 24-25.

The two conferences are hosted by Swedish research institute RISE.

At ISTSS speakers from around the world will explore tunnel safety under the areas of alternative fuel vehicles, digitisation, risk management, explosions, ventilation, fixed fire fighting systems, tenability and evacuation, emergency management, safety management, and fire dynamics.

ISTSS will open with a keynote session from Petra Andersson, RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, speaking on battery vehicle fires in open and confined spaces, and Vladimir Molkov, Ulster University, on hydrogen vehicle safety in underground traffic infrastructure: overview of HyTunnel-CS findings.

Day two’s keynote session comprises an overview of safety concept for Swedish road tunnels, by Ulf Lundström, Swedish Transport Administration, and human behaviour during fires in tunnels, by Gunnar Jenssen, SINTEF, Norway.

The final day’s keynote session will comprise Ove Njå, University of Stavanger, on why is the tunnel fire safety competence situation so fragmented? The need for a tunnel safety study program; and Mirjam Nelisse, TNO, the Netherlands, addressing risk analysis of fire and explosions in tunnels.
