Inrock launches air hammer for HDD

29 April 2021

HDD drilling tools supplier Inrock has announced the launch of the new XTH Air Hammer, developed in conjunction with Sandvik and aimed at HDD applications.

Designed for high penetration rates and lower air consumption, the hammer is said to use less fuel without sacrificing speed or power, and claimed to result in less production time, higher speeds, lower repair costs and fewer production failures.

At the heart of the design is a new spiral piston, which aims to reduce the risk for stress points and potential cracking. While the new guide sleeve is claimed to obviate the need for a foot valve, thereby reducing the potential for failures and downtimes.

The XTH is available in sizes of 3.5in (76mm), 4in (102mm) and 5in (127mm).
