Industry encouraged to attend BTS Tunnel Design and Construction Course

26 May 2023

Young consulting engineers, construction engineers, client organisations and the financial and insurance sectors are all encouraged to attend the BTS Tunnel Design and Construction Course at the University of Warwick in July.

The week-long course, from July 3-7, provides an introduction to all aspects of tunnelling in a range of ground conditions, covering the major features of a project’s life, from contracts and procurement to drill and blast, TBMs, linings and waterproofing. It will feature worked examples and workshop sessions.

It is aimed at the wide range of professional services that support the tunnelling industry, including clients, tunnel operators and members of the financial and insurance sectors that may have a vested interest in tunnelling enterprises, as well as young tunnel design and construction engineers.

The annual course is acknowledged within the industry as providing the highest standard of technical content, with industry best practice presented by leading experts in the various technically challenging fields of tunnelling technology.

The event also includes social elements, with sports sessions, a barbecue and a course dinner.

All delegates will received a CPD certificate.

The University of Warwick is due to restart a one-year Tunnelling MSc, which is supported by the BTS. The Tunnel Design and Construction Course will include further news and an introduction to this on July 4.

Residential and non-residential rates are available for the course. For more information and to register, click here
