Ferrovial and Vinci JV preferred bidders for Ontario line

A consortium led by Ferrovial Construction and Vinci Construction Grands Projets has been selected to build the stations and tunnels for the southern section of a new rapid transit line in Toronto.

The Ontario Transit Group will undertake the design, build and finance contract for the line linking the Ontario Exhibition Place station in downtown Toronto to the Ontario Science Centre station. The 6.7km-long Ontario Line South Civil includes the construction of 6km of tunnels. Seven stations will be built along the route, six of them underground. Construction is expected to commence next year and take seven years to complete.

It is the largest railway project to date for Ferrovial Construction.
