Secretary Rogelio Singson ordered rehabilitation of the access section in Libis for immediate action by the DPWH Quezon City 2nd Engineering District as Tunnels went to press.

Traffic will not be rerouted as works will concentrate on the leaking walls and the removal of stained wall tiles, the agency said in a statement.

Additional lights will be installed to prevent any vehicular accident.

An inspection team found ground water seeping through the tiled walls of the tunnel compounded by a defective drainage on the interchange above.

The C-5 is an alternate route for EDSA connecting the North and South Luzon expressway.

The DPWH also plans to apply the same solution to other tunnels and underpasses with similar seepage problems, the statement said.

The DPWH has completed the asphalt overlay on East Avenue, improvement/concrete widening of Maginhawa Street, concreting of Masambahin Street, drainage upgrade of C-5 also known as Pres. Garcia Avenue.
