Two Kowloon Peninsula road contracts awarded

Hong Kong – Contracts for the Central Kowloon Route (CKR) and Trunk Road T2 have been awarded to Bouygues Construction. These projects form part of a new trunk road known as Route 6. When completed, Route 6 will provide an east-west link in the region with three lanes in both directions.

Chelsea to Battersea tunnel surface settlements

Monitoring of ground surface movements induced by the construction of the Chelsea to Battersea Pipeline Tunnel project is presented as part of this case study. The surface settlements induced by the shaft construction have been analysed and compared with current methodologies and information from recent projects. Movements from excavation and construction of the tunnel are also analysed, and back-analysis of volume losses is presented. TAP project secures funding
27 February, 2019
Italy – The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), an EUR 3.9bn (USD 4.43bn) natural gas pipeline project in the eastern Mediterranean, has been granted full funding. Mott MacDonald was the lenders’ technical advisor on the project and performed technical due diligence on TAP’s design, construction and operational plans.

HRBT team to build Virginia extension

US – Virginia governor Ralph Northam announced February 15 that the Commonwealth of Virginia has selected Hampton Roads Connector Partners, a design-build team, to deliver the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel (HRBT) Expansion Project. The fixed price (USD 3.3bn) and fixed completion date (November 1, 2025) contract is expected to be executed in April.
