Australia – The New South Wales Government has awarded an AUD 1.376 billion (USD 955M) contract to the joint venture between CPB Contractors and UGL to deliver the Line-wide works package in support of the Sydney Metro City & Southwest project, Australia’s biggest public transport project.

A CPB spokesperson was asked to elaborate on the systems installed, but said, “We do not provide individual details of projects such as this.”

The joint venture will be responsible for the design, construction and commissioning of major rail systems in the new twin 15km Sydney Metro tunnels from Chatswood to Sydenham; the expansion of the existing Sydney Metro Trains Facility at Rouse Hill and delivery of the new Sydney Metro Trains Facility South at Marrickville; tunnel ventilation, mechanical and electrical systems for seven underground stations, and power systems for the Sydenham to Bankstown section.

Works are due to begin this year and are scheduled to conclude in 2024.
