Southern Water launches market engagement phase 2

7 November 2022

Southern Water has launched the second phase of market engagement for the Hampshire Water Transfer and Water Recycling Project.

The contract, to be procured using Ofwat’s Direct Procurement for Customers (DPC) approach, includes tunnelling. It is currently valued at £587m (US$665m).

An initial Periodic Indicative Notice was published in February this year, inviting market views and setting out the proposed procurement and commercial approach. Southern Water is looking to continually test the market's interest for the design, build, financing, maintenance and operation of the project.

The deadline to respond to the latest Request for Information is December 2, 2022.

Southern Water says further market engagement phases will be held throughout 2023 and possibly into 2024.

This phase of market engagement comprises a virtual town hall session on December 9, 2022, followed by a series of virtual one-to-one meetings in January/early February 2023. Suppliers are encouraged to attend the one-to-one meetings with their potential partnering organisations.
