RFPs submitted for Eglinton Crosstown West Extension contract

17 November 2022

The Request for Proposals (RFP) stage has closed for bids to design, build and finance the second Advance Tunnel Contract (ATC2) for Toronto’s Eglinton Crosstown West Extension.

The 500m-long tunnel will start east of Jane Street and connect to the future Mount Dennis Station.

Following a Request for Qualifications process, two teams were shortlisted to submit proposals: Acciona-GIP Joint Venture (AGJV) and Strabag. Both teams submitted their proposals by the RFP deadline.

Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx expect to award the ATC2 tunnelling contract in spring next year.

The Eglinton Crosstown West Extension is being delivered via various contracts and will extend the Eglinton Crosstown LRT 9.2km to the west, creating a continuous rapid transit line from the east end of Toronto through the heart of the city and into Mississauga.

The project is one of the priority transit projects announced by Ontario in 2019 as part of the Subway Transit Plan for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. The other projects include the Scarborough Subway Extension, the Ontario Line, the Yonge North Subway Extension and the Hamilton Light Rail Transit.

Last week a Ferrovial Construction and Vinci joint venture was awarded the C$6bn (US$4.42bn/£3.89bn) Ontario Line southern civil, stations and tunnel contract.
