A consortium consisting of Bilfinger, Vinci and Walsh has been selected preferred proposer for the delivery of the Ohio River Bridges Project¹s East End Crossing, an infrastructure project connecting Louisville, Kentucky, with Southern Indiana across the Ohio River. The project includes a 500m tunnel, while existing access roads and related infrastructure will also be expanded.

The project, which has a volume of approximately USD 800M, comprises design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance over a period of 35 years, running from 'substantial completion'. The three companies each hold a one-third share in the project company. During the operating phase, the project company will receive a contractually fixed fee from the state based on its performance under the contract.

Bilfinger will make an equity investment of USD 20M and contribute its expertise in the management of complex international PPP projects, the company announced. Construction will be undertaken by the companies Walsh and Vinci with Jacobs providing the engineering works.

"After completing a number of major infrastructure projects in Canada, we have now managed to impressively enter the PPP market in the US with the East End Crossing," said Thomas Töpfer, member of the executive board at Bilfinger.
