MTR moves to Europe

Hong Kong's MTR Corporation has opened a representative office in London to "take advantage of increasing railway business opportunities in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe".

Since 1995, the MTR Corp has been providing consultancy services to various rail and transport companies in Europe including London Underground Limited and Tubelines Limited. As well as operations opportunities, the MTR Corp will provide consultancy services in planning, construction, operation, maintenance and upgrading of railways.

In a statement, Phil Gaffney, Managing Director for Operations and Business Development of MTR Corporation said:"Having a representative office in Europe will allow MTR to develop a closer understanding of the needs of the European rail market and opportunities arising. Obviously operating in the same time zone will enable us to respond more quickly to our clients' needs."
