Infrastructure pipe market stabilises after recent crash

15 December 2016

Europe - The market for infrastructure pipe in Europe recorded another drop in 2015 on the previous year, but is expected to remain level in 2016. This comes from a recent report by Interconnection Consulting, a market research firm.

The sector, heavily dependent on government expenditure, suffered from spending cuts. Germany, the largest European economy, showed a 5.4 per cent decrease in installed pipe. The UK fell by 1.7 per cent and Italy by 6.5 per cent.

Plastic pipes, previously at 27.4 per cent of market share, are expected to increase by 8.1 per cent in 2016. This is a technological shift in the industry rather than outright growth and comes at the expense of other materials.
