Felix Amberg awarded Stuva prize

Switzerland – Amberg president Felix Amberg was awarded the Stuva prize last month. The award, presented at the German research group’s biennial conference, was given for a lifetime of achievement in the industry.

Stuva stated that the decisive factor in the judges’ decision process was Amberg’s general promotion of the use of underground space, not just where his own corporate success has been concerned.

Since 1986 Amberg has been working in the engineering office founded by his father and took over its management in 1995.

A spokesperson for the group added, “He was treasurer and active board member of the ITA and played a decisive role in the founding of the ITA Committee on Operational Safety of Underground Facilities. As a member and secretary of the board of trustees of the ITA Committee on Education, he shows that the training of junior staff in tunnel construction and operation is of particular importance to him. In the opinion of the jury, he deserves this year's Stuva Award in recognition of his achievements and as a small incentive for the future.”
