Oslo considers joint tunnel

The Oslo City Council discussed in February a major joint tunnel leading all railway and subway lines under the centre of the city.

Both services require more tunnel capacity, and in January Communications Minister Magnhild Meltveit Kleppa announced that a new railway tunnel would be planned. City Council’s communications councillor Joran Kallmyr told local media, “The City's subway also needs more capacity, and it was therefore natural to decide to look into a joint project, rather than having to build two tunnels.”
