Contract signed for first HS2 TBMs

HS2 Ltd has announced that main works civils contractor Skanska Costain Strabag JV has signed the contract for the first two tunnel boring machines (TBMs) for London’s HS2 tunnels. The tunnels will be twin bore, each 13 miles long and roughly the same length as the Crossrail tunnels.

Tunnelling starts under Toronto highways

Ontario – Metrolinx announced tunnel work has begun under highways 401 and 409 for its new train tunnel. Considered one of the busiest sections of highway in North America, according to Metrolinx, which released a video on December 16 showcasing the SEM construction below 21 live lanes of traffic.
