The group, together with the not-for-profit group Building and Civil Engineering (B&CE), has released a joint report called ‘Silica – the next asbestos?’ to examine the danger posed by respirable crystalline silica (RCS).

The HSE is undergoing a programme of inspections following a February 2019 safety alert. New evidence showed that exposure to mild steel welding fume can cause cancer.
